LOST finale forever

Did you know the Lost SERIES finale was on last night? It's true! Twitter is all a-twitter about it (probably). That's what twitter means, right? If you didn't read my recap of THE ENTIRE SHOW on saturday, 1. sorry, 2. I'll catch you up again: Jack is the new Jacob, The Smoke Monster has taken over Locke's body, you know, island stuff. So now they're fighting over the island. Jack wants to protect it and Locke wants to destroy it, which seems a bit harsh. Early on in the season he just wanted to leave, now he wants to destroy it? sheesh, I think Locke should leave-- go to counseling. Oh, also if you've missed this season, there is an equal but opposite timeline. Like Benjamin Button, but not really. In the other timeline all of the losties go to this concert. It is implied that at the concert something crazy/island-y is going to happen. But it doesn't. They just all happen to know the same people who are putting on the concert. On the island Locke and Jack lower Desmond into the cave of light and Desmond takes this cork off a drain, which is apparently the drain to the island. The island is actually a bathtub. PLOT TWIST! Then desmond passes out and Mordor comes up from the drain. fire and red and loud noises and Sauron. (but not actually Sauron.) At some point Locke and Jack are fighting on a cliff and Jack does this super awesome jump punch! JUMP PUNCH! Which, ultimately, results in nothing. He just hits the ground and rolls around a little bit. Locke stabs him in the gut. Then Locke gets on top of Jack and starts slitting his throat, very slowly. If you're going to kill someone, shouldn't you do it quickly so Kate doesn't shoot you while you're trying to kill someone? Maybe it's just me. Oh yeah, Kate shoots Locke and he falls over. Then Locke falls off a cliff and dies. Meanwhile, Miles and Richard are like "LOL! Let's blow up a plane! yeaaah!" As they're rowing to the island with the plane they come across Lapidus. ALIVE! He looks at them and says "worst submarine party I've ever been to," I wish. They pick him up and they all have a laugh. Isn't it hilarious when subs explode and then that one guy dies? (not sayid/jin/sun, the captain of the sub.) So then Lapidus is like "Blow up the plane! I am a pilot! I believe we can fly!" Lapidus is R. Kelly. So they go to the plane and start it up, but the wheels need duct tape. Miles! go! Miles duct tapes the wheel. Back at the cave Jack is like "I WILL FIX IT! I AM JACK!" and Hurley's like "No! You're gonna kill yourself." and Jack's like "yeah." So Jack makes Hurley drink mud water out of a crushed water bottle. Now Hurley is the new Jack is the new Jacob. So Jack goes into the cave and puts the cork back on Mordor and everything is good again. In the flash-sideways everyone at the concert, plus a few, migrate to the church with the dharma station in the basement (in the original timeline) Jack goes in there and everybody is there and everybody loves each other. Jack's dad tells him about how everyone dies and this place, sideways-reality, is a sort of limbo between life and the after life so everyone can go to heaven together. How sweet. Jack then wakes up in the river and runs around the jungle, holding his wound. He collapses and looks in the sky to see the plane take off with Lapidus, Sawyer, Miles, Richard, Claire and Kate. Vincent lays down next to Jack and the camera shows only Jack's eye, which closes.

THE. END.

So, er'vybody's like "Wasitagoodending?!?!" (People don't understand spaces) I say yes. The show as a whole wasn't about the island or it's mythology or the reasoning behind why the island was what it was. The show was about these people, mostly Jack. So, yeah, it was a good ending. He died in the end and went to heaven with Kate, who is the worst, but whatever, he loves her for whatever reason. The ending wasn't great, but it definitely wasn't terrible.

FlashForward has kidnapped LOST fans and refuses to let go.

I finally watched FlashForward this afternoon (I say that like it premiered weeks ago. It premiered last night.) and I was thoroughly impressed. The show was first advertised on ABC in the final few weeks of this last season of LOST with cryptic promos that simply said "What did you see?" Since the 5th season of LOST was ending everyone thought this was some sort of tease for the new season or some sort of summer ARG. nope. It was just fantastic advertising on ABC's part. According to wikipedia the shows plot is as follows "A mysterious global event causes everyone on the planet to simultaneously see, for two minutes and seventeen seconds, his or her life six months in the future. When it is over, many are dead in accidents involving vehicles, aircraft, and any other device needing human control. Everyone who survived is left wondering if what they saw will actually happen." The first 20 minutes of the pilot were a bit slow and I thought the entire show would be awful. But once Seth McFarlane's character was introduced it got a lot better. Disclaimer: Seth McFarlane's character didn't make the show better. He just showed up when the plot picked up. It was weird to see him as not-a-talking-dog. Luckily, he wasn't in the show for too long. He actually wasn't a bad actor, obviously, his voice just kind of annoys me. (By the way, Seth McFarlane produces 75% of the shows on FOX's Animation Domination Sunday nights.) Once the characters start figuring out what's happening the show gets you (or maybe only me) LOST-level excited and intrigued. Well, First season of LOST anyway.

This show, I feel, will deal a lot with the battle between religion and science, much like LOST has. It wasn't incredibly prevalent in the first episode, but will probably become more through-out the show. The main-character, an FBI agent named Mark Benford, is searching for the reason why this happened, while his kid's babysitter said "I think God did this... as punishment."

I've also formed a theory that this is just a really big promo for the final season of LOST. It probably isn't true but the show indirectly says "Whatever happened, happened." That sounds pretty familiar.

The only real problem with the show is the characters. The actors are all great, except maybe the kid, but she's a kid. I just don't feel emotionally connected to any of the characters. They all seem like they are only pawns in this mystery of the flashforward, which is interesting but a TV show can't survive on mystery alone. We need to care about the characters We need to want people to not die and we need to want the bad guys to lose. (By the way, there are bad guys, then there is also this REALLY bad guy who has yet to be introduced. I'll mention him later.) The only character I really care about so far is John Cho's and that's only because I like John Cho. The main character is apparently in AA, but that's mentioned briefly. I guess I can't blame the show after only one episode. The pilot was required to be all about the disaster. But in LOST's pilot we had the moment between Jack and Kate where she had to sew him up and he told her that story (you know what story). Remember before we all hated Kate? That was a long time ago. FlashForward didn't have that moment. Then again, FlashForward only had a one hour premiere, LOST had two hours.

The show really is great and I'll watch the second episode. But, if anyone says "When are we?" I'm done.

I think the last scene will be Jack and Hurley sitting side by side and they'll look at each other and Jack will smile like "We had some crazy times, Hurlomobile." And Hurley will nod and smile like "we sure did." and that will be the end. I had to write it down because if that is the ending and I say "Wow, that's exactly what I expected." No one will believe me. So there it is. The final scene of LOST!

Today was the LOST panel at Comic-Con and I'm freaking out (Season 5 spoilers!)

G4 was broadcasting live from Comic-Con today and Michael Emerson, Jorge Garcia and Nestor Carbonell were interviewed by the hosts of Attack of the Show. The only thing they revealed is that they know nothing about season 6, oh, and that Dominic Monaghan will be in season 6! Ever since their interview, which was at about 4:30, I've been checking youtube every 15 - 20 minutes to see if anyone has uploaded the entire panel, no one has yet. But, I have found some lone moments from the panel and here they are.

Oceanic Ad:

The ad claims to have 30 years with a perfect flying record, which implies 815 never crashed. Apparently Juliette blowing up the bomb worked. Fun Fact: Oceanic Airlines is a joke airline in Hollywood for ill-fated flights.

Hurley's Mr. Cluck's ad:

Hurley says he's had nothing but good luck since he won the lottery, liar. Remember that time you crashed on an island and there were The Others and your girlfriend died and then your best friend died?

LOST season 6 is much like Christmas. It starts long before it actually happens.

I googled "LOST season 6" and found an interview with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. It's a great interview because they give just enough information to make you interested in the upcoming season without actually telling you anything. They do answer the Libby question (and will probably make you feel stupid for not realizing the simplicity of it) and the Claire mystery from last season. She's not dead. The interview is about 12 minutes long but you should watch the whole thing.

In other LOST news, Dominic Monaghan is in a promo for ABC playing foosball with three other actors on current ABC shows and says He "was dead once." His imdb page doesn't have any listing of him on a TV show this or next year, but his wikipedia article says he will be on FlashForward. To make things more confusing, FlashForward makes no mention of Dominic Monagham. Only 210 more days (approximately)!
